Strange Republican Plaudits
Two unusual articles I have come across: S.C. GOP Governor Mark Sanford loving on Obama, and Newt Gingrich loving on Hillary. The Sanford article appears to be out-of-context given the full editorial in The State.
Generally, I believe the Republican party is in its last throes - in large part because they’ve been leading based on which direction the wind is blowing - “Windsock Republicans.” John McCain anyone?

McCain: Occupy Iraq for “Ten Million Years”
![]()
What we have in Iraq is no longer a war, it is a military government exercising control over an occupied nation or territory. There is no standing enemy, just disorganized criminals who resent our presence. We can build dozens of bases there, there is no enemy to oppose it. We can build an embassy the size of the Vatican, there is no enemy to oppose it. And apparently, we can keep our troops there for the next “ten million years,” says John McCain.
